Getting Around Town Safely: Stress-Free Transport for Appointments & Outings
Missing an important healthcare appointment or skipping a community activity because getting there feels overwhelming should never be an issue. For many NDIS participants, transport is the critical bridge that links them to independence, social connections, and health goals.
GENERAL NDIS

Missing an important healthcare appointment or skipping a community activity because getting there feels overwhelming should never be an issue. For many NDIS participants, transport is the critical bridge that links them to independence, social connections, and health goals.
Navigating public transport during peak times can bring sensory overload, physical fatigue, or unexpected accessibility barriers. Having a reliable, dedicated support worker to drive you—or accompany you while building public transport confidence—changes everything.
Here are 4 ways tailored transport and community access support can help:
1. Door-to-Door Peace of Mind: Enjoy zero-stress travel directly from your front door to medical appointments, social groups, or the local shops—with dedicated assistance getting in and out of the vehicle.
2. Accompanied Support: Your support worker doesn't just drop you off at the curb; they can stay to assist with carrying bags, taking notes at appointments, or navigating crowded places.
3. Activity-Based Transport: Combine travel directly with community participation so you can explore local markets, sports events, or parks with confidence.
4. Building Travel Independence: If one of your goals is learning to navigate public buses or trains on your own, we offer patient, step-by-step travel training at your pace!
Understanding Your NDIS Transport Funding
When using independent, non-registered support providers, transport funding under your NDIS plan can be accessed in two primary ways:
Activity-Based Transport (Core - Support Category 04): When a support worker drives you as part of delivering community participation, vehicle running costs (such as a standard per-kilometre rate, tolls, or parking) can be claimed as an agreed non-labour expense.
Support Worker Time (Core - Support Category 01 or 04): The time spent traveling together with your worker is billed under standard support worker hourly rates.
Note: If you receive a direct NDIS Transport Allowance (Recurring Transport payment into your bank account), this can be used directly for independent rideshare or taxi costs!
